Gantar dates are among the wetter types. This type of date can also be consumed in the form of Kharak and Rotab.
Gantar dates or qantar or sugar dates are wet dates with small kernels. This date is one of the important and export cultivars of Hormozgan province

This date has a high storage capacity. Gantar has a semi-dry texture, oval appearance and brownish color and
is one of the best export dates in Hormozgan.
This cultivar is also called Qantar and Ghandi in different regions. It is “wet” from fine-grained date cultivars.
The maintenance capacity of this cultivar is high. This date is harvested several times on the tree. There is no domestic consumption in Iran.
It is fourth grade in terms of production importance and first grade in terms of fruit importance in Hormozgan and second grade in other places. It is mostly consumed in the form of Rotab and dates. Oval fruit with an average weight of 9.27 g with soft texture, yellow color, average shell thickness, the ratio of fruit flesh to kernel is equal to 7.93. Oval kernel with light brown color, the degree of adhesion of the kernel to the fruit is low. Kharak ripens in August, but the fruit is fully harvested in late September. The degree of adhesion of the cap to the fruit is low.
